The very talented Lorelei Eurto is hosting this giveaway and mini blog hop. I was very excited to be one of only 10 participants randomly chosen to receive a pair of these balled end, glass headpins created by Gardanne Beads.However, I have to apologize to both of these wonderful ladies, as I believe this challenge was an epic fail for me. I'm not too upset, it happens sometimes. I just hope that Lorelei and Anne are not offended that I couldn't bring these beautiful headpins any justice.
You'll notice that I used one of the headpins as a pendant, bringing the wire up in a wrapped loop and then down into a spiral that mimics the glass. You'll also notice that there is no balled end. I'm not sure what I did, but I broke it off as I was creating the spiral. Ugh!!
'Okay, no big deal. I have a second one!' I thought. But ended up doing the exact same thing to the second pendant I made. After a few tears and a large glass of wine, I knew I just had to work with what I had. So, I flattened the spiral with a hammer to help it stand out without the balled end and then finished the rest of the necklace with amethyst rounds, purple crystals and Czech glass beads in the perfect matching shade of green.

I am not sure that any apologies are necessary. That is lovely! You persevered and you made something really special. I particularly like how you made the scroll shape mimic the head pin. That is a happy accident for sure.

I love how this came out! The mix of the amethyst and green is a lovely choice. I confess I broke the ball off one headpin too (the one I used as the dangle). Shhhh.....

ReplyDeleteThis is totally not a fail. First of all you were not the only one that lost the ball on the headpin, this is priceless information for me as a supplier. I do not want to sell anything that will break when you are designing your jewelry. You also gave me the idea to go bigger with the headpins so they can be used like pendants. I also love the wire spiral and how it mimics the spiral in the glass. So thank you for participating in the challenge, and feel proud of what you accomplished.
ReplyDeleteRochelle - I don't know how I missed your reveal? I was in the challenge also. I remember I was having trouble accessing a few blogs that day. I must have forgotten to revisit yours. Anyway, better late than never! I agree with Erin - this is not a fail, it is a "Happy Accident!" I love the color combo of green and amythyst. Great job!
