Bead Soup Reveal!

Welcome! Today is the reveal day for the Bead Soup Blog Party. Below are the beads that I received from my party partner, Dyanne. My challenge was to create something using what she sent me. I completed three pieces, although I had planned to finish one more, I ran out of time. I had a lot of fun and really enjoy the pieces that I created. Thanks Dyanne! And a huge thanks to Lori Anderson, our amazing hostess for the party.

The beads I sent to Dyanne.

The beads Dyanne sent me.

The first bead I picked up was the awesome Jade oval donut pendant. I just love working with this shape! I wire wrapped it and paired it on a necklace with Rainbow Fluorite, Quartz and Aventurine. I had some Jade discs in my stash, so I also created matching earrings.

The second necklace I created starts with a wire wrapped pendant made of a White Quartz disc, shell ceramic art bead (anyone know the artist?), and a tear drop shaped shell. The pendant hangs from a strand of Swarovski crystals and Czech glass accenting the White Quartz beads from Dyanne and two ceramic beads by Splendid Loon Studio. I used Terracast pewter and sterling silver beads, along with undyed waxed linen cording to complete the necklace, giving it a nice beachy feel.

I had such an amazing time participating in another edition of the Bead Soup Blog Hop. Be sure to check out the other participants blogs!

New techniques!

I may have been absent from the blog for a long while, but that doesn't mean I've stopped creating jewelry!

I have been working hard at learning new techniques and improving on them. For my birthday in 2015, I took a wire wrapping class at a local bead shop. This opened up a whole new world of possibilities! I have also started vending at music festivals, which has influenced my style a bit.

Here are a few of my recent creations I'd like to share.

Carnelian wire wrapped pendant. Tigers Eye, Amethyst, Citrine, Carnelian, and Calcite mixed gemstone necklace. Sterling silver.

Wire wrapped Peridot and Lilac Amethyst Earrings. Sterling Silver.

Sterling silver wire wrapped pendant. Amethyst and Stichtite in Serpentine.

Bead Soup has arrived!

The 9th edition of Bead Soup Blog Party is in full swing and I couldn't be happier! I can hardly believe this is my sixth time participating; it's been such fun every time! If you want to check out what I made for the past parties, click here

This time, I have been paired with Dyanne of Dee-Liteful Jewelry Creations. She sent me a wonderful mix of beads, including a Jade oval pendant (that I can't wait to wire wrap), as well as white quartz, ceramic and lampwork beads. She also wrote her note on a beautiful art work post card (by Shelly Graham Turner). There's so many different materials and colors, it has my head going every which way with possibilities. I love it!

Unfortunately, the mail can be so rough on beads. One of the little teal tulips was broken when I opened the package. Bummer! So they won't be turned into earrings, but I think I've got the perfect idea in mind for the remaining bead. It's all about rolling with the punches!

Be sure to come back on March 25th for the reveal!

Almost Three Years

Typing out my first blog post in almost three years, it feels familiar, yet filled with new possibilities. I have missed blogging, and often think, "I'll start doing that again soon!", but it just never seemed the right time to do so.

Last month, as I was mindlessly scrolling through facebook on my phone, I saw a post from a familiar name, Lori Anderson, and it read that she was going to begin her famous Bead Soup Blog Party again. Oh, the excitement that I felt!! Participating in her event has always been a huge highlight of having my blog. I really enjoy the trading of beads, and the challenge that came with creating pieces for the big reveal. I just had to join the party!

I'm really hoping that I'll start blogging regularly again, and not just for the Bead Soup Blog Party. However, the next few posts will be all about it! I know you're as excited as I am!
