Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots

One of my favorite vegetable side dishes is Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots. It's perfect for spring and tastes great with a nice spiral ham.

Ingredients:
16 ounces baby carrots
2 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
1 cup water
1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions:
In a skillet, bring carrots, brown sugar, water, butter, and salt to boil.
Reduce heat to a simmer, covered for 20-30 minutes
Uncover and increase heat to medium-high, tossing often until glaze coats carrots, 5-10 minutes.

Hooty Hoots

I have always loved these little Czech glass owl beads, so when I finally got some, I took a photo with instagram and it was uploaded to facebook. An old friend of mine, who happens to love owls as well, asked me to make her a whole set with these beads. I really love how they came out and I know they will look fabulous on her!

{Tutorial} Wrapped Wire Beads

A tutorial  for making your own beads using a  simple wire wrapping technique.

Supplies:
Wire cutters
Chain nose pliers
Ruler
Wood dowel
22ga Wire

Step 1: Measure and cut 24 inches of wire.

Step 2: Leaving a tail of about 4 inches from the end, wrap the wire once around your wooden dowel.

Step 3: Continue to wrap the short end of the wire around the dowel.

Step 4: Using your chain nose pliers, push the end of the wire down, against the dowel.

Step 5:  Now take the remaining long end of the wire, and start to wrap the wire over itself, crisscrossing randomly.

Step 6: Continue to wrap all of the wire over itself. Then using your chain nose pliers, tuck the end in so it doesn't stick out.

Step 7: Slide the wire off of the wooden dowel and you're done!

Tips:
If you use a smaller gauge, cut a longer piece of wire.

Once you remove the bead from the wooden dowel, tuck the first end of the wire into the bead hole.

Combine lots of wire beads in different colors

The Art Bead Love Tour is an ongoing project to spread the love of handmade to new and exciting places. It’s a way to reach people who may have never stumbled upon our blog on their own, and give them a chance to share the love of handmade. We chose to use a chain to link beads as a symbol of how this project links us all together ~ in our unity to stand behind handmade.

HOW IT WORKS: (Please read the entire post before entering!)
1. The winner of the chain will be allowed to take up to 30 beads from this chain. They will then replace each bead they took with another handmade bead, charm, or pendant of equal quality.
2. The winner will post pictures of what was taken and what was added, in order to keep an account of the chain's progress and to keep our followers drooling. Please be sure to give credit to the bead artists as well (if you know them).
3. The winner will then have a giveaway, just like this one, to keep passing the chain on and on. Rules can be copied and pasted from here.
4. When you repost your giveaway (remember you can copy and paste from here) - a list should be added to show where the chain has gone. Ultimately, this will end up a very long list!
5. Chain must be shipped to its new home via Priority Small Flat Rate box with delivery confirmation. Please package it carefully.
6. There will be a button on the Love My Art Jewelry website, where it all started, that links to the current blog and giveaway. This way the Love My Art followers can have another chance to win it!
7. You MUST exchange your beads and have your giveaway completed within two weeks of receiving the chain.

(So remember ---You're not winning the ENTIRE CHAIN---
just a chance to take some beads from it!)
Art Beads should be handmade by an artist, and not mass produced. Remember, the focus is on replacing handmade with handmade, and beads/components taken should be replaced with beads/components that are made by an individual artist - not an organization.
It is so important that the quality of the beads be maintained, so we can keep the Art Bead Love Tour alive. We want to share consistent quality with the next winner.
If you make your own handmade beads or components, it's a great way to get your beads into the world for people to try them out, or, if you hoard collect art beads it's a great way to share your collection and get some new additions as well.
Please, please, please, if you cannot adhere to the above rules, do not enter the giveaway at this time. It will go on and on and you can always enter at a later date. There will be a button on the side bar of the Love My Art Jewelry blog so that you can track where the chain currently is.

Surprise from Prima Bead

I came home from my day job the other night and noticed a large package on my front step. I wasn't expecting any deliveries... unless I forgot I had ordered some beads, but this box was way too big.
Once I got into the house and my arms unloaded, I noticed that the sender was Prima Beads! I quickly opened the box and discovered an exciting gift!

Inside was a bead palette, earring cards, packaging supplies and an amazing ergonomic tool set! Prima Bead really gave me a surprise and I want to thank them for such a wonderful and generous gift :)
