Bead Soup Reveal!

Welcome! Today is the reveal day for the Bead Soup Blog Party. Below are the beads that I received from my party partner, Dyanne. My challenge was to create something using what she sent me. I completed three pieces, although I had planned to finish one more, I ran out of time. I had a lot of fun and really enjoy the pieces that I created. Thanks Dyanne! And a huge thanks to Lori Anderson, our amazing hostess for the party.

The first bead I picked up was the awesome Jade oval donut pendant. I just love working with this shape! I wire wrapped it and paired it on a necklace with Rainbow Fluorite, Quartz and Aventurine. I had some Jade discs in my stash, so I also created matching earrings.

The second necklace I created starts with a wire wrapped pendant made of a White Quartz disc, shell ceramic art bead (anyone know the artist?), and a tear drop shaped shell. The pendant hangs from a strand of Swarovski crystals and Czech glass accenting the White Quartz beads from Dyanne and two ceramic beads by Splendid Loon Studio. I used Terracast pewter and sterling silver beads, along with undyed waxed linen cording to complete the necklace, giving it a nice beachy feel.

Bead Soup: What I received

I have joined the 8th Annual Bead Soup Blog Party! For this round, I have been paired with the super talented Sue Kennedy of SueBeads! How lucky am I? Sue sent me a beautiful bead soup, filled with her handmade glass beads in my favorite shades of blue. The focal is just gorgeous!

Check out that jeweled box clasp.. and those bird charms by Menagerie Studio.. Stunning! I already have tons of ideas circling in my head!

The Art Bead Love Tour is an ongoing project to spread the love of handmade to new and exciting places. It’s a way to reach people who may have never stumbled upon our blog on their own, and give them a chance to share the love of handmade. We chose to use a chain to link beads as a symbol of how this project links us all together ~ in our unity to stand behind handmade.

HOW IT WORKS: (Please read the entire post before entering!)
1. The winner of the chain will be allowed to take up to 30 beads from this chain. They will then replace each bead they took with another handmade bead, charm, or pendant of equal quality.
2. The winner will post pictures of what was taken and what was added, in order to keep an account of the chain's progress and to keep our followers drooling. Please be sure to give credit to the bead artists as well (if you know them).
3. The winner will then have a giveaway, just like this one, to keep passing the chain on and on. Rules can be copied and pasted from here.
4. When you repost your giveaway (remember you can copy and paste from here) - a list should be added to show where the chain has gone. Ultimately, this will end up a very long list!
5. Chain must be shipped to its new home via Priority Small Flat Rate box with delivery confirmation. Please package it carefully.
6. There will be a button on the Love My Art Jewelry website, where it all started, that links to the current blog and giveaway. This way the Love My Art followers can have another chance to win it!
7. You MUST exchange your beads and have your giveaway completed within two weeks of receiving the chain.

(So remember ---You're not winning the ENTIRE CHAIN---
just a chance to take some beads from it!)

Art Beads should be handmade by an artist, and not mass produced. Remember, the focus is on replacing handmade with handmade, and beads/components taken should be replaced with beads/components that are made by an individual artist - not an organization.
It is so important that the quality of the beads be maintained, so we can keep the Art Bead Love Tour alive. We want to share consistent quality with the next winner.
If you make your own handmade beads or components, it's a great way to get your beads into the world for people to try them out, or, if you hoard collect art beads it's a great way to share your collection and get some new additions as well.
Please, please, please, if you cannot adhere to the above rules, do not enter the giveaway at this time. It will go on and on and you can always enter at a later date. There will be a button on the side bar of the Love My Art Jewelry blog so that you can track where the chain currently is.

Here are some photos of the soup I sent to Suzette. The clasp is sterling silver and I included two focals, one is a vintage brooch, the other is made by Golem Studio. Some lampwork beads, pearls, crystals and two strands of glass beads accompany them.

Key to the Heart

A little while back, I participated in a supply swap and received some beautiful gifts from my partner, Lisa of Pine Ridge Treasures. There was no obligation to create anything, this was simply to share beads and components, so I hadn't gotten around to using these goodies until this weekend.

I used both the key focal and large cable chain in a gunmetal finish. First, I had to alter the key a bit to use as a pendant. I used the dremel to create a bit of a distressed look and then glued a heart shaped jewel on to the the middle. It looked like it needed some color there! The chain was added to a strand of red Malaysia Jade and Jet gemstone beads to create an asymmetrical design. This finished necklace is about 36 inches long with no clasp, as it can easily slip over the head.

Bead Soup Reveal

Welcome to my Bead Soup Blog Party reveal!

Here is a little refresher of the beautiful beads I received from my blog soup partner, Lisa of Whimsy's Wonders.

Lisa was so generous and sent so many beads! First I made some fun and colorful earrings. These all scream 'summer' to me :)

The clasp I was sent is by Green Girl studios and is absolutely stunning! I knew I wanted to do something simple and have the hand cast clasp as a focal. I used Amethyst, Citrine and glass seed beads for this three strand bracelet.

And finally, the necklace! I was floored when I received this pendant, as I have been dying for something from Golem Studios. It figures that this is the piece I struggled with most. I ended up using only the pendant and 2 beads from my soup in this entire necklace! lol I am pleased with how it came out though. The colors pick up those in the pendant without over powering the busy focal. The dragonfly clasp I have had for years and am glad to finally have found the perfect home for it.

I still have so many beads left from my soup and plan to use them all in more projects to come. So, like my other BSBP reveals, there will be a Part II! I do hope you'll come back and see what else I have done with my gifts from Lisa!
