A trip to Salem, Massachusetts: Part I

Some friends and I recently took a day trip to Salem, Massachusetts. It was a beautiful day and there is so much to do in this small New England town! First we visited the the Salem Witch Trials memorial and took a guided walking tour of the historical spots and museums. 

Aside from the historical significance of Salem, it is a cute, quirky place full of friendly and equally quirky locals, which means we fit in just perfectly.

AND... For my fellow Harry Potter fans, there is even a real wand shop called Wynotts Wands! This was by far my favorite :)

We really worked up an appetite with all that exploring, so we enjoyed some locally brewed pumpkin ale and ate at a pizza place with an alien cat on their sign!

There is nothing better than a day spent with your friends and this will be a day I'll always remember!

Summer Days

The air is starting to get cool here in New England and while I'm looking forward to the changing leaves and apple picking, I am really going to miss these summer days...

The only constant is change

At the beginning of August, I was told that I would be laid off from my full time administrative assistant job. While the sensible part of me is scared, (how will I pay the bills?), the artist in me is flying high with the idea that I get to spend all day making jewelry! This may just be the push I need to take my jewelry business to the next level and I'm really looking forward to the challenge!

Party at the Aquarium

This past weekend I attended my 10 Year High School Reunion at the famous Mystic Aquarium. What a beautiful setting for a party! After arriving, we mingled and enjoyed cocktail hour by the Beluga Whale tanks.

Then later, we enjoyed dinner surrounded by the pretty glow of the fish tanks. How fun to catch up with old friends while viewing these wonderful creatures.

 

They even had a s'mores bar for dessert!

Of course, I designed and created my jewelry special for the night. I used matching pink pearls and emerald green czech glass, as well as a stunning repurposed, sterling silver starfish connector!

I had such a great time, I can't wait for our 20th reunion!

The unOffical start to Summer!

I hope everyone had an amazing Memorial Day weekend! Even with having to dodge a few rain storms, mine was a blast! I visited a farmers market, listened to some live music and then hit the shore for some beach combing. It was a perfect way to start the summer season!

Focus on Life: Knock Knock

This week, our prompt from Sally is 'Knock Knock'. I knew immediately that I wanted to take a photo of the doors in my apartment. They have these beautiful, antique-style glass door knobs that I just adore. I took many shots, from every different angle, hoping to capture their beauty for you.

Focus on Life: Monochromatic

Our prompt this week was 'Monochromatic'. This is a photo of glass beads, all in shade of blue.

When the weather is warm here, I spend a lot of my time by the ocean. The color blue makes me think of the rolling waves and brilliant sky.

Focus on Life: Love & Flowers

I missed last Saturday's post due to the storm, so I'm posting two photos today. The first is for last week, but this weeks happens to be an older photo I took, as it was kinda tough to find flowers in the middle of February with 30 inches of snow on the ground ;)
