Bead Soup Party: The reveal!

Welcome!
My name is Rochelle. I live in southeastern Connecticut with my hubby and our two boys (of the feline variety). I have been making jewelry for almost 10 years, but have only started blogging in the last few months. I'm truly honored to be a part of something so unique and grand as this Bead Soup Blog Party. I hope you enjoy my reveal!

Here are a few photos I took of my Bead Soup mix before getting to work. You can read more about what I received from my partner, Teri, here.

Bead Soup Project One
Aquamarine(?) gemstones

These earrings are simple. But sometimes I really like that.
They have a nice romantic feel to them. The gemstones were from Teri, I had the metal components.

 Bead Soup Project Two
Amazonite, Bronzite and Carnelian gemstones

This necklace uses the toggle clasp and large Amazonite beads (as the focal) sent to me by Teri, and was probably the hardest project for me. See, I never use gold. That means I have no gold toned crimps, jump rings or wire. So construction on this one was a bit tough. I actually had to pull apart some old costume jewelry to get enough jump rings, and then I bought some spacers specifically for this project. I really wanted to show the clasp off, but with some of these beads being so large, I couldn't see how to put it in the exact front. I played around a bit, moving the beads around on my work surface, when it came to me. I slid them over to the side :)  I really, really like the colors in this piece. It's something totally different than I would normally make.

Bead Soup Project Three
Amazonite, Quartz and Freshwater pearls. Sterling silver

Now this necklace is much more me. Back to silver and my comfort zone! The large gemstone pendant and quartz beads came in my Bead Soup mix. I think this is just beautiful and have already found myself planning an outfit around it!

Bead Soup Project Four
Amazonite gemstones, Glass beads, and Sterling silver dolphin charm

I had one of those large rectangle beads left over. I was moving it around in my hand when I realized that if I turn it vertically, it looks like the ocean and sky! Oh, so cool! I kept the design simple, to show off the gemstone.

My Partner:
My wonderful partner is Teri from Born To Be Worn. The bead soup mix she sent to me was truly perfect and I have had so much fun creating these pieces. Be sure to stop by her blog and see what she made using the bead mix I sent her!

Thank you for such an amazing experience Teri!

Part II:

  1. You made some really beautiful pieces! My favourite (so far!) is the necklace with the three gorgeous large beads - the necklace that you found the hardest to make!

  17. Great mix of pieces out of that soup. It was very clever of you to pull apart other jewelry to use the jump rings.

  18. What a beautiful array of jewellery pieces you've designed. The dolphin charm is the perfect addition in the last piece.

  19. They're all very pretty. But I really like the necklace with the 3 focal beads and the clasp. That clasp is so pretty. And the bead caps with those large stones on either side of it just make it really stand out. It looks wonderful to the side like that so you can see it along with the focals. The last piece with the 'ocean' focal is wonderful too. Very simple, but shows it off to a T.

  21. How beautiful. I'm a warm colors person, so I'm all over the first necklace - seeing it I'd never have guessed you usually don't work with gold. I like how the clasp is accented by the big bead caps, and how you managed to incorporate the light blue stones into the design - making them work with all the warm colors.

  22. Very elegant - especially the blue/crystal one!

  31. The beads you received were really drool worthy! I really like all four of your designs (really), but I feel the need to mention that the first and third are my favorites. Those two are so just romantic and feminine. They call out to me. Well done!

  32. I really love your design, symmetry, and use of color. I would have had a very hard time, one because the stones were so large, and two, because I don't work in gold either! I think you hit it perfectly with all your pieces!

    ReplyDelete
  33. All of your pieces are lovely, but like you, I love those colors in your gold necklace. And I love that you scavenged beads to "make it work". Great job!

  38. Gorgeous pieces! I had a large rectangle as focal too and I tried it vertically first, but it just didn't work -- YOURS DOES! We’re all being pushed outside our comfort zones — with amazing results!

  39. Beautiful work!! I love the ammonite, quartz, and silver necklace...just gorgeous! I was given copper to work with in my bead soup, and like you, had to specially buy some findings and things to work with it since I had never used copper before. But I found that I really like it, and I have ordered more copper findings to add to my stash! The earrings you made are precious!

  40. I love the blue, red, brown, and gold in project two! Great work, all of them!

  41. I love all of the projects, but the chunky necklace with the gold is my favorite. It's just so stunning!
