Bead Table

The last few days I have spent in bed because of back pain. Thankfully, with the help of my chiropractor, I'm on the mend. There isn't a lot in the works on my bead table, but I've still got a couple photos for you.

I received these fantastic jewels as a donation for the Upcycled Jewelry Project.

A recent project as made me outside my comfort zone and working with copper wire. Here I twisted two wires together, made my links and hammered them.

  1. Oh my goodness! You have a Guatemalan Wedding Necklace! My mom had two of these very long necklaces, and when I was a teenager I helped myself to one of them and refashioned the pieces parts into other jewelry. About a year ago, I was talking about it with her, and lamenting that I'd destroyed and since lost her necklace. She took me to her jewelry box and pulled out the other one! I didn't know she had two. And even though I know what I'm doing now, it's such a sentimental part of my teenhood, I hate to destroy it for anything else so it's just hanging in my closet with my other necklaces. It looks exactly like the one you have up there!

    1. Thanks so much for sharing your story Heidi! I had no idea what the beads were or about the wedding necklace tradition. Unfortunately, this one is broken and it seems half of it is missing, because it's not very long at all. So I shouldn't feel bad about pulling this apart :)
