This holiday weekend was a hot and humid one! I did make it out to the
beach one day, but then decided I'd rather sit in front of the fan,
create jewelry and stay cool :)
Some new things on my bead table! A turquoise
pendant that was a gift from Sandy of Creative Chaos (Thank you!) and a
few other things I picked up from a small local shop called Thistle Beads.
Sunday was a beautiful day, so I took a drive up to a local flea market. Then I had dinner with Mom before heading home for a relaxing night of reading The Hunger Games.
On Facebook, there is a lovely community known as the Creative Bead Chat. It's an amazing place where beaders and jewelry designers of all types and skill levels can chat about we all love the most. I signed up for a Supply Swap and was partner with Lisa of Pine Ridge Treasures. Below is a pic of all the awesome supplies she sent me! I've already started working with the cute heart!
I also was the lucky winner of a giveaway! Sandra of Creative Chaos sent me these beautiful 'wing' themed collection of goodies.
When I signed up for Sally Russick's One Crayon Color Challenge over at The Studio Sublime I wanted to give myself a bit of a challenge and use a color that I don't design with very often. I probably should have thought this through a bit more, because I really didn't have much to work with. Oops!
Because the color red often symbolizes passion, love, anger and
energy. I wanted to create earrings with lots of movement and a bit of
spice! I used copper headpins with red drops at the end and spiraled
those around red glass beads that hang from copper hooks.
I imagine pairing these earrings with an outfit like Sarah from Pandora's Box is wearing is the above photo. She has an amazing sense of style and I love the red pants!
This past weekend, I attended the Innovative Bead Expo. I joined the Connecticut Bead Society, met the talented Keith O'Connor and purchased some beautiful beads.
