January Earring Challenge: Day 2 and 3

I've said it before and I'll say it again; I'm having trouble finding the time, during limited day light hours, to take photos. Even though these earrings below are from the 2nd and 3rd day of the challenge, I have been keeping up and meeting my goal! Tomorrow is Saturday (Woohoo!) so I'll take photos of the other earrings then :)

Some people, who have done similar challenges themselves, find that the first day was hard. My trouble started on the second day. I have had these chunky quartz pieces out on my table for a while and I knew I wanted to make a pair of earrings with them. The image in my mind was edgy; Chain wrapped and knotted around the stones. But, it didn't take long before I got frustrated and moved on lol I finally settled for something a little more fancy. I like these earrings, but they don't compare to my original idea, so I will have to give that a second try soon.

These chandeiler style earrings were boucing around in my head for a few days, but I wasn't sure I really like them. So when I finally decided to make them for the 3rd day of the challenge, I was really surprised. I LOVE THEM! I think I may even feature this design in other colors in my etsy shop.

I challenge myself...

To make 1 pair of earrings every day for the entire month of January. That is 31 pairs of earrings to share with you! I got this idea from a Beading Daily email, in which Jen is hosting the same challenge, but for beaded earrings. Since I won't be making the style they prefer, I thought I'd steal her idea and take on the challenge, just on my own. I would love to know if any other bloggers are doing this same thing or would like to join in?

My first pair of earrings for 2012 are actually a birthday present for my mom. She received a beautiful sweater for Christmas so I thought I'd make a pair of earrings to match!

The goods...

I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays! I know Milo did...

Yesterday, Hubby and I went out to spend some of our gift card cash and had a delicious sushi dinner. Today, I got ALL of the wrapping paper and bows out of my studio and have been putting away the beautiful beads I received from Santa Clause! Here's a quick look at some of the new things I have to work with:

Winter finally got the memo...

Brr! It's starting to feel more like winter in my area! I spent the weekend setting up the tree and decorating the house for Christmas, as well as some quality girl time with fellow jewelry maker and my good friend, Kate. Here is a picture of the pair of earrings she made while I was working on some custom orders.

Earrings designed and created by Kate Dufour. Photo by me.

I absolutely love these earrings; hence the feature on my blog.  I could just see myself wearing these beauties. This morning, while sipping my coffee and browsing Pinterest, I saw this great tutorial for a cute diy ruffle shirt. And then suddenly, I had the perfect outfit planned in my head ;)
